Big Dumb Headcanon #299230: despite initially being rather snide towards Rose, Karkat would eventually see her as a sort of amalgamation of Kanaya, Terezi, and even parts of himself (romance novel book club anyone?), with a dash of her own Rosiness

although he’d act as abrasive and nonchalant as always, he’d come to see her as her own person worth respecting and become extremely protective of her well-being basically the way he used to act around Nepeta :””)  in short, he’d kind of become her psuedo big brother figure

which is why i think that, when the kids meet up again, John is going to become very familiar with the business end of that sickle
